The Future Perfect Continuous measures how long an activity will have been running at a future point. It is the rarest tense in English — you will read it more than you will speak it — but it completes your tense map, and it impresses in writing. Form: will have been + verb-ing, same for every subject.
Sentence TypeStructure + Example
Affirmative
Subject+will have been+verb-ing
By June, I will have been running this firm for ten years.
Negative
Subject+will not (won’t) have been+verb-ing
He won’t have been working long enough to qualify.
Question
Will+subject+have been+verb-ing?
How long will you have been living here by then?
The golden rule: this tense = Future Perfect + duration of an ACTIVITY. It nearly always carries ‘for + duration’ and ‘by + future point’ in the same sentence. Missing either one? You probably want a simpler tense.
Three checks before you use it
Usually both clues appear together: by (a future point) and for (a length of time).
Step 2
When to Use It
Use 1
Duration of an activity up to a future point
The signature use — by X, ...for Y.
By December, we will have been marketing this project for a full year.
Next month, she will have been teaching for thirty years.
By the time the possession is given, buyers will have been waiting for four years.
Use 2
Future cause of a future state
Explaining why someone will be tired/experienced at that point.
He will be exhausted when he lands — he will have been travelling for twenty hours.
Don’t schedule anything after the expo; the team will have been standing all day.

Example
What it says
Simple Future
I will call him.
Action will happen.
Future Continuous
I will be calling him at 5.
Action in progress at a future moment.
Future Perfect
I will have called him by 5.
Action complete before a deadline.
Future Perfect Continuous
By 5, I will have been calling clients for three hours.
Duration of the activity up to that point.
Stative verbs, final reminder: know, own, be, love skip continuous everywhere — so ‘By 2030, I will have known him for 25 years’ (NOT will have been knowing).
Same call, four tenses
An action, a moment in progress, a finished task, and a measured duration: one call, four ways to see it.
Step 4
Hindi Concept Note
अHindi Concept Noteहिंदी में समझिए
यह tense बताता है कि future के किसी पल तक कोई काम कितने समय से चलता आ रहा होगा।
अगले जून तक मैं दस साल से यह company चला रहा हूँगा।
By next June, I will have been running this company for ten years.
जब वह retire होगी, वह तीस साल से पढ़ा रही होगी।
When she retires, she will have been teaching for thirty years.
याद रखें: ‘तक’ (by) + ‘से’ (for/since) — दोनों एक ही वाक्य में दिखें, तो यही tense है। बोलचाल में rare है, लिखने में class दिखाता है।
Step 5
Common Mistakes Hindi Speakers Make
Wrong
Right
Why

By June, I will have been working here for ten years.
The -ing is compulsory — four parts: will + have + been + verb- ing.
She will have being teaching for 30 years.
She will have been teaching for 30 years.
‘Been’, never ‘being’. Same trap as Chapter 10.
By 2030, we will have been knowing each other for 20 years.
By 2030, we will have known each other for 20 years.
Stative verb Future Perfect simple.
He will has been driving all night.
He will have been driving all night.
After will, always ‘have’ — never ‘has’.
By the time you will return, I will have been waiting for hours.
By the time you return, I will have been waiting for hours.
Time clause rule, one final time: no will after ‘by the time’.
I will have been finished the work by 6.
I will have finished the work by 6.
Completion Future Perfect (no ‘been’). ‘Been + V3’ mixes two tenses.
Step 6
